GUNS N' ROSES Frontman AXL ROSE Arrives In Japan; Video Available

July 10, 2007

A short video clip of GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose arriving at the Tokyo, Japan airport earlier today (Tuesday, July 10) has been posted at YouTube.

GUNS N' ROSES will kick off its five-date Japanese tour on July 14 in Chiba. The dates are as follows:

July 14 - Chiba, Japan - Makuhari Messe
July 15 - Chiba, Japan - Makuhari Messe
July 17 - Nagoya, Japan - Nippon Gaishi Hall
July 18 - Tokyo, Japan - Nippon Budokan
July 21 - Osaka, Japan - Intex Osaka

Support at the shows will come from MUCC (sometimes referred to as 69, which is pronounced "muku" in Japanese),a Japanese rock band formed in 1997. Supposedly named after a character from the Japanese children's program "Ponkickies", the band has, as of 2007, released seven studio albums, along with several live albums, EPs, singles and DVDs, some of which were also released in Europe.

David Farrier of TV3's "Nightline" program in New Zealand recently met some GUNS N' ROSES fans in Auckland ahead of the band's concerts in the city. Included in the report is 90 seconds' worth of live GNR footage from Auckland. Watch the clip at YouTube.

Longtime GUNS N' ROSES associate Del James revealed in a February 2007 online posting that the group's eternally delayed "Chinese Democracy" album was in the "mixing" stage.

GUNS N' ROSES' "Greatest Hits" collection, which was originally issued in March of 2004, was certified triple-platinum on April 11, 2006 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of three million copies. The CD sold 9,000 copies in the United States last week alone (week ending July 1),bringing the total number of copies sold since its release to 3.63 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
